NYMPH The nymph is the molting stage of damselflies and dragonflies. They become active when the water begins to warm in the spring migrating from where the eggs were laid towards shore to complete their cycle to adulthood. They are a significant addition to the trout diet at that time. This nymph pattern does not try to look like any specific nymph, but it gives the impression of a nymph with the long slim body and short hackle resembling the legs located near the head of the nymph. This is an old pattern developed specifically for trolling more than forty years ago. It has not lost its phenomenal ability to attract trout in all those years. The trout responds to the shape of the fly but it is also attracted by the color of the fly, especially the fluorescent colors. This Nymph pattern is particularly effective when slowly trolled with LIGHT TACKLE. $1.25 each |
